"Diviner" at the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong
Imi Hwangbo was awarded a commission to create a large scale artwork for the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong. Her artwork, "Diviner," is a three dimensional drawing made of archival ink on hand-cut mylar.
"Diviner" is on a scale that surrounds the viewer. It suggests the experience of gazing at the night sky and divining meaning from the scattering of stars. The viewer becomes the diviner, guided by intuition towards insight from patterns formed by chance. The legendary Peninsula Hotel, opened in 1928, is Hong Kong's most historical hotel.
