  ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Imi Hwangbo received her B.A. in Studio Art from Dartmouth College. She received her M.F.A. in Sculpture from Stanford University, where she studied with the Bay Area Expressionist painter and sculptor Nathan Oliveira. Ms. Hwangbo has been the recipient of numerous international artist fellowships, with residencies at the American Academy in Rome, the Camargo Foundation in France, and at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Scotland. Within the United States, she has acted as an artist-in-residence at Yaddo, Sculpture Space, and at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Art. In support of her work, she has been awarded grants from the Andy Warhol Foundation and the Bemis Center for Contemporary Art.  She has exhibited her work throughout the country, with shows at the Weatherspoon Art Museum in Greensboro, North Carolina; the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, the International Print Center New York, and the Painted Bride Art Center and Scmidt/Dean Gallery in Philadelphia.  Ms. Hwangbo is an Associate Professor of Sculpture at the University of Georgia.
